The Kuwaiti Union of Women’s Associations was founded on June 25, 1994, by a ministerial decree to unify the representation of women’s associations in all forums inside and outside Kuwait. Its members include the Kuwaiti Women Voluntary Association for Community Service and Development, the Women Peaceful Strides Association, Islamic Care Association, and the women youth Club. The honorary founder and president of the union is Her Excellency Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah, while Her Excellency Sheikha Fadya Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah currently heads the board of directors. The Kuwaiti Union of Women’s Associations was granted observer status in the United Nations in 2000.
